FAQ

How long does a roof last?

It depends on many variables such as the type of material and the pitch of the roof. Standard asphalt architectural shingles typically last about 20 years in the Midwest. HIgh-impact and hail resistant shingles often last closer to 20-25 years. Lower pitched roofs tend to wear more quickly, while higher pitched roofs have greater longevity.  Concrete tile and standing seam metal roofs will last 50+ years with proper care and maintenance.

How long does it take to roof a house?

Typically, a re-roof will take two or three days. It does depend on the roof’s size and slope, if the plywood needs to be replaced, as well as the weather. Sometimes damage is discovered during the removal of your existing roof that needs to be addressed and may add time to the process. Trust that your Eclipse Roofing representative will be in constant communication with you about the timeline.

My roof is leaking. Does it need to be replaced?

Not necessarily. Eclipse Roofing will inspect your roof to determine the cause of your leak. It may be that our crew can repair the leak and prolong the life of your roof.
It may be that your roof has degraded to the point a complete re-roof is necessary. Industry standards dictate that a roof with more than 30 percent damage should be replaced rather than repaired. Your Eclipse Roofing  representative will fully discuss your roof and detail its condition and the most cost-effective options for you.

Should I paint my house and replace my gutters before a new roof?

We recommend that all painting and guttering needs be addressed after a new roof is installed. Eclipse Roofing does install gutters and we are happy to add a quote to your bid.

What roof material should I choose?

Many homeowners select roofing materials for aesthetic reasons and warranty options. It is also important to check your city and home association rules and regulations. Many have very specific requirements including material and color.
An Eclipse Roofing representative will help you understand the pros and cons of each type of roofing system and brand to find the best material to meet your roofing needs.
